Spring in New York is a gorgeous maxi dress evoking a whimsical, delicate feel with a full floaty skirt and gently draping cowl sleeves. The only shaping is the addition of darts to the front bodice which also features a button up front which can be worn closed or open with a contrasting cami underneath. 

We love to team Spring in New York with a thick belt and boots for a more daytime boho vibe during the slightly cooler spring days and change these out for flip flops for when the spring days start to warm up.

Sewing level

Spring in New York is suitable for intermediate sewers as the pattern includes darts and buttonholes, although as these can be substituted for alternative fastenings such as snap fasteners or hooks and eyes, if you have mastered these techniques it is also a good pattern for confident beginners.

Fabric recommendations

Spring in New York will work with any light to medium weight woven fabric with lots of drape such as a lightweight crepe, georgette or rayon.

Supplies

  • 10 - 15 buttons between 1cm and 1.5cm in diameter
  • alternatively you could use snap fasteners or hooks and eyes if you are not confident with buttonholes
  • buttonhole foot for your sewing machine (if using buttons)
  • seam ripper (if using buttons)

Your printed pattern will be accompanied by an easy to follow step-by-step instruction booklet both packaged together in an eco-friendly cotton bag. We aim to despatch all printed patterns within 1 - 3 days. For further details please refer to the information in our delivery and returns section.

PDF pattern

As soon as you have completed the checkout process and payment has been confirmed you will receive an email containing a link for you to download. The link will contain:

  • your pattern which can be printed at home on A4 or US letter paper
  • easy to follow step-by-step instructions
  • an A0 size copy shop file of the pattern which you can have printed at your local printers.

The pattern can be downloaded a maximum of three times.
